Wow, I never saw this coming. The last time I went to Comdex was 1998 (where I got my first glimpse at HDTV and other cool stuff), but I haven't been able to attend since then due to time constraints. I guess everything went downhill after 9/11. Hmmmm...

Yeah, it's been going downhill for several years. Tradeshows in general haven't been doing very well (with a few exceptions).

If you were at last year's you would understand why. I went in 2000 and it was great and then back again in 2003 and I was absolutley shocked at how bad it was.

2000 - 2 Hotels, multiple sections/floors, tons of freebies, all big name companies

2003 - Half of one floor of one hotel, 3/4 of companies there were small non-names, a couple of exhibits in other hotels on the strip.

CES is better than crapdex anyways.... its got most of what comdex did plus alot more stuff.

The internet has killed trade shows. I'm actually surprised it didn't happen faster.

Not surprising but still a shock. Comdex was going downhill shortly after Adelson sold it (and built the Venetian with the money!)
