Im intersted in upgrading my PC for better Battlefield 2 performance and was just looking for some advice.

My current system:

AMD A64 3200+ Winchester CPU
Asus A8N-Sli Motherboard
1GB XMS Corsair RAM
1x XFX 6800GT 256MB
Audigy 2 Soundcard

What next?
I was thinking either a faster CPU or a second 6800GT. Would the CPU be two slow for the 2x 6800GT's?

I dont think you need anything drastic... cpu should b upgraded, as it is acting as a bottleneck for the gpu... lorn has a point there... you should try and play bf2 with this setup... could be pretty good...

I think it is stupid to constantly think about what should be upgraded next. Just use your rig and have fun with it, and when the time comes to upgrade it, believe me, you'll know.

Well i can only play smoothly with settings on medium. It does look good but i thought I could have it play smoothly on high. So maybe its my CPU then?

Herbz, Something is wrong then, i run it full settings and full res if i choose with.

AMD 2600m at 2.8gig 225(450)fsb (32bit)
1gig corsair 3200XL (400-500mhz) cl2
300gig Maxtor 16MB SATA HDD
Chaintech G-Force 6800 Ultra AGP
Asus NF2 Mobo
Audigy 2ZS

But i see little difference in games at 1600x1200 and 1280x1024 apart from my CRT's HZ is 72hz at that res which i dont like, so i use the latter res to get 85hz.

I think i has edit the games shortcut to get certain res's as there not avail, cant remeber i formated since and wont reinstall as i dont really like online games.

Edit, i even ran it at 2.5gig with 200(400)fsb last time as it was hot here weather wise and i hadnt fitted new cooler as i need to remove mobo to do so.

 BF2 likes likes lots of RAM. If BF2 is the sole reason you're upgrading then I'd get it up to 2GB. Your 3200+ is plenty fast enough for that game.

get another gb of ram. you don't need to upgrade the cpu, and it is not bottlenecking the 6800gt. hell i am running a 6800gt and a p4 3ghz and it runs fine.
