True but $100 less for better specs sounds a lot better than hoping for Microsoft to get there head out of their a$$

BUT (opinion only) MS has simply said "dev first, money second , gamer 3rd" Sony has said "gamer first" if MS changes its mind and goes gamer first.. i say Fook um.. My money is on the company that does the right thing to start, not the one that changes after it finds out slapping us in the face was a bad idea.

of course.. as you say things can change and maybe we misunderstood some of the MS info.. heaven knows they have flip flopped and said, and counter said stuff..

MS does not care about the gamer, if they are forced to change.. that like giving money to the kid who beats you up for lunch every day just because he didn't one day.. Or because he was your best friend a few years ago, why wont he do it again as soon as he can?

How anyone actually TRUSTS Sony after the rootkit, PS3 launch, and PSN downtime debacles is, well, beyond me. I am intensely paranoid that Sony has been leaving certain information out because they saw how badly full-disclosure worked for Microsoft.

I'm not a big fan of a couple of Microsoft's policies (mostly giving publishers the option to disable resale, and the 24hr check... bump it to a week or two, FFS), but they've basically put it all out there. There are some nice features to go along with the annoying stuff, and I think Microsoft's biggest problem is more that they've done a TERRIBLE job of giving a narrative where those features matter as much as they will.

I mean... ten person digital game sharing clubs. That's seriously awesome. Giving/selling digital copies? Again, forward thinking and not something you can do on the PS4.

I pre-ordered both consoles.

chances are, if i get one at launch, it will be xbox1. not 100% sold on it yet due to their policies and all that bs, but the xbox1 has more launch titles than the ps4 that interest me. there actually aren't any ps4 exclusives that have been announced yet that would make me buy a ps4 at launch.

but i do have both consoles preordered, and i'm a console whore, so who knows what is actually going to happen. and november is my birthday month too and already told my wife bout ps4 and x1...

True, but one company is publicly beating you with a stick while the other is at least trying (insert: appearance) to improve. People acting as though they intentionally were "hacked" are just not reasonable. Microsoft is not impervious.

As much as I like the xbox exclusives, I feel it is akin to providing a skydiving service and nailing your hands to the harness grips. Sure, I'd love to sky dive but not I'm not handing over control to the parachute , especially when an alternative is available.

It would let me assess the benefits and the drawbacks in an informed fashion, so, uh, maybe?

I dunno. I'm mostly blown away that Microsoft has let this issue get SO OUT OF CONTROL. I mean, it's like watching amateur hour. They're barely doing damage control, and what they've done has been horribly inept. I want to believe that they're shutting up while they reformulate this entire scheme internally... but, geez, why not tell us as much?

They've got time to do damage control, especially if Sony face-plants... but the clock is ticking.

This right here. I have both my 360 and PS3 sitting next to each other, and I never see the point in picking sides. I have both consoles pre-ordered, and most likely will cancel both since none of my friends are getting new consoles. But if I had to go with one, I would probably go Xbox out the gate due to better launch exclusives and the way better controller. Then I could sit on that for a couple years and let a library build for the ps4 just like I did this generation.

It has nothing to do with picking sides. If XB1 was the only console available, given its current restrictions and what we know now, I would not buy it. It only encourages further consumer restrictions.

The problem of *sides* is that we have an alternative available. The only way the PS4 balances in is that we can show these greedy bastards by voting with our wallet what we're looking for.

Sure, not everyone cares about their "rights" (I don't think this is a good word, it's not like they're stealing from us) or thinks it isn't a big deal... but you're encouraging pushing them to a point where they WILL take something you care about away. That is, if you care about anything. So while I could probably live with their current restrictions, I have no desire to see what's next.
