What news reader do you use to have multiple connections to one server, please lmk

I've tried out a couple news reader programs but none seem to work as well as agent. My problem is that agent won't establish multiple connections to teh same server. Cox limited download speed to 50K/s but you can have up to 4 connections open. I need a program that will do this. For some of the really big binaries, the ones that are a couple gigs total with a couple hundred .rxx files it'd be nice to cut the dl time by 4.

It's not possible... It's just a known limitation. you can connect to several different servers but not several connections to the same server with the same program. I know what your trying todo but I don't think it would work, even if you were sucessfull at getting 2 connections they would just split the speed at 2x25K/s and so on, I'm quite sure it's an ip thing. If it were two diff servers you'd be ok at 2x50K/s

The only way I can think to do this in Agent is setup four instances of Agent in their own work directory like you would if you had 4 different newsfeeds. You'd then choose which groups went with each Agent instance and run them at the same time.

I was in the same boat as you, and i had 2 or three versions of agent opened at the same time which was a major pain in the but to keep track of, then i read in the cox groups that BNR2 is a good free program. So now i use it to open 3 or 4 connections to the east and west newsgroups servers. Cox lets u connect up to 4 connections on each one at 50k each connection. Here is the link.

did I not also see that Cox is going to limit you at 1Gig/month and charge you for overdownload. They were saying that 1% of all Cox members use 30% of all bandwidth.

With Rogers in Canada, newsgroups are now capped at 150/Kbsec with unlimited download so far but we just had a $5/month increase.

Again my solution to all this is to cap the newsgroups at between 100-150/KBsec and with a download of 500 Megs/Day, that way you won't suck all bandwidth and still have access to 15Gigs/Month.

I was not informed of any limit on downloads, so until i do i will download as much as i want. I did read something about i think comcast using giganews as their news feed and was limiting to 1gb a month maybe that is what you were thinking of.
