What new low profile video cards are on the way?

Besides the MSI GTX 1050 Ti low profile, what other new low profile cards have been released or are on the way?

I'll be definitely watching this one!
...frankly, I'm surprised the Radeon 460 isn't low-profile yet... it doesn't require the 6-pin connector, right? I think that's a critical element - they HAVE to be low-watt / low-temp for SFF cases.

...even a 460 "SE"...?

But I'm glad I found a shop willing to sell me that MSI 1050TI LP for the same $220CDN that most of the other 1050TI's sell for! :D

Gigabyte releases GTX 1050 Ti and GTX 1050 in low profile form factor:

No new GPU's arent low profile, this is anandtech everything gets way overblown out of proportion. We dont do anything low profile around here.

On a serious note it seems companies are not focusing so much on low profile and passive cards anymore, few years ago it seems like there were many more options than today, probably due to the IGP becoming somewhat use able nowadays, i imagine after the zen APU hits shelves that will pretty much end the need for low profile and passive cooled cards as it should be able to hit similar performance to them or better even.

When it comes to wanting low profile GPUs, there are two types of people:

1. Low profile
2. Low profile and single slot
If you want a half-decent card, that is of the RX 460/GTX 1050 level, then you can't have the 2nd option.

Looks like MSI skimped on the ports for the RX 460 cards so hopefully they're a little cheaper than the Geforce cards. There are still decent budget HTPC cases like the low profile Silverstone ML series where these cards make sense. Nice upgrade from a 750 Ti anyway.

Yeah sad to not see display port, but they used the two most popular for HTPC's and older PCs -> HDMI and DVI.

Would have liked to see DVI-I, if it were possible. Plenty of 1080P or close to it VGA monitors, which could be used for gaming. Then again, the HTPC crowd is all about the HDMI.

AMD and NVIDIA removed all internal analog display capabilities starting with the R9 290 and GTX 10X0, respectively. Intel boards stopped with Broadwell, I think.

It's a damn shame, but that's the truth.

Kabylake iGPU still supports VGA.

Not officially. Only up to Haswell. Officially, since Skylake, the iGPU has dropped support for VGA.

Mobos that still support a VGA output from a Skylake or Kaby Lake iGPU, may be using a third-party RAMDAC chip in the equation.

So, are the odds, and design rules, against having a single-slot low-profile card? I'd probably be satisfied with a 750ti, even. Do any SS LP cards exist, with higher specs that the GT710 or 730 Kepler-based cards? Anything Maxwell-based, or newer? (Or even GCN.)

The following R7 250 (which is rated at 65W) is near single slot low profile:

The GPU core on this is stronger than the GK 208 based GT730 GDDR5, but it has lower memory bandwidth.

With this mentioned, I think your best for GTX 750 Ti level performance in a true single slot format would be a GP108 based card.....if they ever do end up making these? (Crossing my fingers)

Those ones you can replace the slot connector on, and either move the vga output to a second slot or remove it all together.

Maybe I am misunderstanding you...but by that comment I was referring to how the heatsink (in the second picture) protrudes just a little bit above the single slot bracket (this is why I called it "near single slot").

This, in contrast, to the PNY GT730 GDDR5 where the heatsink does not protrude beyond the single slot bracket:

That's the only place I can find that card in stock, and it's $150+. Screw that pricing.

Edit: At least, that PNY is still avail., for slightly under $70 shipped.

I've got a LP GTX750ti, that I had been planning to put into a slimline Acer Haswell i3 box for the longest time, to sell it as a gaming rig.

Well, I took it apart earlier, and it has two expansion slots, and the PCI-E x16 slot is the outermost slot. Which means, it won't fit a double-width LP card, like mine.

I've got some GT710 SS LP PNY cards in storage that I got from BestBuy on ebay, for around $35 ea.

Wonder if I should just throw one of those in, or if I should even bother.

I don't see much point in these low profile GPU's when such cheap CPU's with integrated graphics exist, such as the G4560, or i5's if you need more power etc.

What use case are people running these low profile cards for exactly?

1.) Intel GT2 Integrated graphics is still much slower than GTX 1050 Ti, GTX 1050, RX460 etc.

In fact, according the data in the link below Skylake GT2 (with DDR4) is even slower than R7 240 (GCN 1.0 320sp @ 720 MHz/780 MHz with 128 bit DDR3 1800).

http://www.anandtech.com/show/9483/intel-skylake-review-6700k-6600k-ddr4-ddr3-ipc-6th-generation/14

2.) For people that just want the display and media buying one of these cards is still cheaper than buying a whole new system with a G4560 processor in it. With this mentioned, one thing that these cards can't do yet (that Kabylake IGPU can do) is play 4K netflix.

If that Haswell Core i3 has dual channel RAM, I'll bet the iGPU is faster.....or at least as fast as that GT710.
