What networking protocols necessary for dial up modem?

I've gotten real rusty with dial up modems having used cable for nearly 3 years now. I'm setting up a new ISP on my mom's box and removed all the protocols intending to reinstall them.....whoops, cant remember what all was installed.

What all do I need, Windows Family Logon, tcp/ip and dial up adapter?

This box is running OEM Win98 (first version not SE). D-Link USB 56K external modem, IE 5.0.

Thanks y'all. I eventually figured out what was throwing me a curve...once DialUp Adapter is removed, the only way I found to get it back was via uninstalling the communication stuff on the Win98 cd then reinstalling it.
