Hrmm I've been thinking lately about what makes me tick as a First Person Shooting Gamer. I'm very skilled (especially at realism games where the bullets are instant hits). I get accused of cheating frequently. I do not cheat online - never have, never will. Perhaps I was born with better eye hand coordination than the average person? Looking at myself, I'm 16. I've been playing computer games and using a computer since I was 6. First game I ever played was Wolfenstein. Maybe experience has something to do with it?
Anyways...looking for a more scientific and natural explaination. I have been needing to wear glasses since I was 12 or so. My vision has been in the 40/40 range for both eyes. I recently experiemented playing my favorite game with glasses. Note: I do not find the text blurry on a monitor at 1024x768. My head is about 1 1/2 or 2 feet away from the monitor. Anyways, the game seemed a bit sharper with glasses. Everything flowed more vibrantly (eg: when player models running across the screen)...kinda hard to explain. Anyways, after a while it gave me a headache. Regularly without glasses, I can play a game for hours and hours and get fatigued but not get a headache (while alot of people complain about headaches after 2 or 3 hours or so). Perhaps my blurred 40/40 vision blurred the motion created on my monitor allowing me to overcome the obstacles created by perfect vision. That's my theory anyways.
Hehe k my late night rambling is over. 🙂
