What mythological stories would you like to see in movie form?

There have been a few with a mythology feel to them recently, like Troy, 300, and I guess even Gladiator. But I personally think the storyline in the God of War games is awesome and would really enjoy a movie along the same lines, or something like that, something epic that doesn't involve books written by old British guys :D

What mythological tale would you like to see made into a movie?

Note: as stupid as it is for me to have to say this, given the religious threads on ATOT right now I would really appreciate it if wisecracks about the Bible, Quaran, unicorns, flying spaghetti monsters, etc. could be left out.

Another Ten Commandments with Mel Gibson playing Moses and Joe Pesci playing Ramses

Not really a mythological story. You'll be happy to know that "At the Mountains of Madness" is planned to be done soon. Guillermo Del Toro is supposedly going to direct.

I want to see a miniseries based around Greek mythology. All of it. Zeus' war with the Titans, all the infighting, incest and scandal of Olympus, Persephone being dragged to the underworld, Poseidon being a dick, all of it. I loved that stuff as a child, and it would make a great soap opera.

Agreed. Kevin Sorbo would be a good choice for the lead.

a soap/miniseries would kinda drag it out too long imo. better to do it in a two to three apart film.

A trilogy or something based around Greek mythology, like the Trojan Wars, would be sweet.

The Silmarillion in would make a fantastic series of movies. The Fall of Gondolin would look SWEET as well as any of the other epic battles against Morgoth. Seeing Numenor at the height of it's power would be cool too. Beren and Luthien or Children of Hurin would also be good flicks.

These could be done collectively as a mini-series too. The downside to this is the budget would have to be considerable to do them justice.

I would like to see an amusing collection of shorts based on crazy religious stories, rather than a myth made into film.
Find some crazy happenings which were reported to have gone on, and make a series of short 5~15minute films based on them.

Yeah, this should be a good movie.

At the top of my list would be the story of Arminius.

EDIT: He was a real person, and his achievements were so spectacular that he was mythologized quite a bit throughout history.

A remake of Jason and the Argonauts would be cool with modern day special effects. Or how about a movie based on the Castlevania video game?

With tentacles. The "Religion of Peace(TM)" would just love that.
