What music software do YOU use?

For me, iTunes is junk cause its so buggy (I really liked the older versions of iTunes which were alot lighter).

I'm currently on WMP, it's not bad. Going to give MediaMonkey ago.

Which software do YOU, humble poster, use for playing music and organising large (1TB + 😀) collections?

Foobar, Zune.

Uhh, my music collection isn't larger than 1TB though. Last I checked it was about 50GB. I don't think I would have time to listen to 1TB of music...that would take years for me to get through, considering I revisit a lot of albums/songs often.

But Foobar does a good job of keeping my current playlists sorted and easy access to my entire collection. Zune (aside from using it for the subscription, which is the main reason I use it) is excellent for its album view.

Used to be Spotify but now they want you to pay $8 a month for unlimited listening, so I switched to Grooveshark.

Don't store music locally. That feels too much like 1999 for me.

Foobar2000 on Windows, and DeaDBeeF on Linux. I organize my music through file structure, I have a few coarse genre directories, and most is in artist/album format.

Foobar has decent plugin support, by the way. I use it to listen to console music (PS1, PS2, SNES, etc) as well as my mp3 and FLAC rips.

Love listening to classic RPG music from time to time 🙂

I use Winamp 5. I have a lot of music, and it's the only thing that I find organizes it well enough. I use Foobar as well, but only for converting FLAC to MP3.

Foobar for general listening on my PC since it's customizable, lightweight, and has global hotkey plus library support. I could probably also sub in WinAmp, but never quite got back into it. I installed it once and just found it kinda meh. I also used MediaMonkey for a time, though had some quirks with plugins in the past.

For syncing to devices (Android via iSyncr and my iPad) I use iTunes on my MacBook. I have yet to find anything that can really compete with the features I use on its smart playlists. Zune player came kinda close, but since nothing but Zunes could sync with it, it wasn't of much use for my non-Zune devices. Though I use WinAmp on android for actually playing the music.

Winamp 5. Media Library works well enough, I just scan through artists and albums and pick whatever to listen to.
