What movie(s) would you say that everyone needs to see?

I am going on a movie kick lately and renting/buying a lot. I want to make sure I don't miss any good ones 🙂

Shrek
Bambi
Toy Story
Dumbo
The Little Mermaid
Sleeping Beauty
The Fox and the Hound
Cinderella
Beauty and the Beast

Going with the same theme, Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

V for Vendetta
The Usual Suspects
The Pianist
Bridge on the River Kwai

There are plenty more, but I'm at work right now. 😛

Depends what you like to watch or what your favorite genres are.

I recommend Boondock Saints if you've never seen it. Good action type movie, but it is very violent so if you don't like violence and cussing and all....it won't be up your alley. You also said everyone, so this is definitely not a family with kids flick. I don't have a ton of kid friendly ones because I don't have kids, but Slither and Feast are funny horror flicks. Good classic comedies to own on DVD are Animal House, Caddyshack, Raising Arizona, and Blazing Saddles. Star Wars triology, the first ones of course and best ones....episodes IV, V and VI. Indiana Jones Triology worth your hard earned money. Full Metal Jacket and Saving Private Ryan are great war movies. Band of Brothers series is a great HBO series.

I agree with The Fox and the Hound, Shrek and Toy Story as FoBot suggested, too. Shrek 2 is also good, but the original is the best.

Alien
Aliens
Amadeus
Army of Darkness
Back to the Future (all 3)
Citizen Kane ('Rosebud' was his sled)
Contact
Event Horizon
Full Metal Jacket
Groundhog Day
Heavenly Creatures
Lethal Weapon...I always forget which ones are good
Predator
Princess Bride (hey, you have to see it ONCE...)
Shaolin Soccer (the subtitled version, WITHOUT the cleaned-up subtitles)
Spiceworld🙂P)
The Matrix (just the first one)
Three Amigos

hmmm...
Walkabout
20 Days Later
300, just for the "THIS IS SPARTAAA!" scene

Way too many to list but here's what I've seen this summer that I highly recommend:

-Casablanca A+
-Deliver Us From Evil A+
-One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest A+
-Some Like It Hot A+
-To Kill a Mockingbird A+
-7 Samurai A
-All About Eve A
-Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid A
-City of God A
-Der Untergang (Downfall) A
-Gone With the Wind A
-Great Escape, The A
-Hot Fuzz A
-Lives of Others, The A
-Lost in Translation A
-On the Waterfront A
-Sunset Blvd. A
-Lawrence of Arabia A-
-Manchurian Candidate, The A-
-North by Northwest A-
-Pianist, The A-
-People vs. Larry Flynt, The A-
-Raging Bull A-
-Treasure of the Sierra Madre A-
-Wall Street A-

Other than those, the usual like Memento, Fight Club, people have alreayd named alot

Very Dependant on taste, but 12 Angry Men because it instills thinking before making decisions.

I would say Holy Grail, but if you don't appreciate that sort of comedy you won't like it at all. Same for any comedy, whether it be British humor, Mel Brooks comedy, ect.

I've always enjoyed Casablanca but it may be a little cliche.

Top Gun.

Why would anyone want to watch a bunch of sexually frustrated aviators high-five each other for 90 minutes?
sure beats watching Jarhead, which is watching a bunch of sexually frustrated marines whack off for 90 minutes

Jarhead sucks too.

Full Metal Jacket is 10x the movie than both Jarhead and Top Gun combined.
