What movie is this?

I heard a reference to a Spielberg movie recently where he gave a character a Walkie Talkie instead of the gun he wielded in the book. Despite this ringing a bell, I can't for the life of me remember what movie this was?

And it was for the E.T. "Special Edition" or whatever. In the original, the FBI agents had guns, in the new one, he edited out the guns and gave them walkie talkies.

If it's E.T., then the situation was that he had a gun in the original and replaced it with a walkie talkie in the re-release and DVD.

You know the bit where the kids are cycling, and take off over the roadblock? Well, in the original the cops at the roadblock had guns, and in the special edition they had walkie talkies - no more shooting at ET!
