What movie is Metal Gear Solid based on, or influnced from?

I remember watching a movie (just the beginning) from way back in the 80's, about a character named Snake Pillisken. It was very similar to the Metal Gear Solid game (PS1). Snake is kidnapped, fed with drugs and sent to carry out a mission. What movie is this, and is this the movie Metal Gear Solid is based on?

No, they are completely unrelated.

Both characters named Snake != similar. The stories aren't even anything alike.

snake got its story from the creators over at Konami

Yea, MGS (and its subsequent weird sequel) were both mostly original stories from Hideo Kojima. The only connection the two might have, is that in MGS2, Snake was called Iroquois Pliskin for a period of time.
