What movie has the best Original Soundtrack/Score?

Beau

In the subject.

My votes:
Compilation Soundtrack: The Crow
Original Score: Tie between Crouching Tiger (Yo Yo Ma) & Legends of the Fall

Tough question--It has to be an ORIGINAL soundtrack, so can't select movies like "Pulp Fiction."

How about Star Wars? I was humming that damn tune all through grade school. Dances with Wolves was excellent too.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is an all-time classic.

My runners-up include The Hunt for Red October, Guinevere, and American Beauty.

Hans Zimmer is da man! In addition to Crimson Tide, I'd also recommend MI:2, The Prince of Egypt, Black Hawk Down, and Gladiator.

While Zimmer is my favorite score composer, I'd have to say that John Williams has done perhaps the most beautiful score with Schindler's List.

Other faves:

Band of Brothers
Backdraft
Braveheart
The Natural
The Thin Red Line
The Time Machine
The Untouchables
Titanic
Glory
Armageddon
Blade Runner
1492: The Conquest of Paradise
Chariots of Fire (and others by Vangelis)
The Princess Bride (and others by Mark Knopfler)
Dragonheart
Field of Dreams
The Last of the Mohicans
The Lord of the Rings: TFOTR
Run Lola Run
Rudy
Saving Private Ryan
The Mission
The Truman Show
Dances with Wolves
Willow

The Thin Red Line (because it was on my mind, and has some incredible music)

There are probably many, many others that I just can't think of.

Edit: oh, Requiem for a Dream and virtually any movie with stuff by Clint Mansell

Shat that's a tough one.

Best overall SCORE---from start to finish---I'd have to say the Empire Strikes Back.

But
Last of the Hicans,
Gladiator,
Hunt for October are close 2nd

Gladiator is the only other score I can think of whewre I loved EVERY track on the SNDTRK.

I would have to say Star Wars. That score has been redone and copied so many times, used in so many movies, spoofed, and is probably the most highly recognized score out there. Listening to that is nearly a cinematic experience all it's own.

Hans Zimmer really lets me down, so does James Horner.

For close second I would say Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Ilike last of mohicans. At the end when the girl is being led away and the violin kicks in - that's just too sweet.
