The batman thread got me thinking on this...those movies will be up to 5 with the latest one. What else has been that successful? Only one I think of is planet of the apes (original).

Friday the 13th? Or were most of those direct-to-video?

EDIT: How could I forget the Bond series?

Star Trek never went past 6 in my opinion.

And Bond movies aren't really sequels...its just the same character who never gets older and has different adventures. There's no correlation between the movies.

Unfortunately I think that all of them had theatrical releases.

neither of those are sequels, imo.

i think rocky maybe? or jaws?
Yeah, you need to differentiate between "sequels" and "franchises." I'm of the opinion that once a movie goes beyond a trilogy, it's a franchise. So in that case, any movie that has 2 sequels has had the most. ;)

Yeah, I agree with the statement on the Bond flicks not actually being a sequel. I've got to go with Rocky.

where does star wars fall in that then? Cuz technically they're up to 5 and will be at 6.
