I put my mouse on top of my case (Antec 830) because it is tall enough and has the best reflection for the optic.
A tad uncomfortable since it is still much lower than my desk. But I can't use it on my desk since it has black shiny surface.
I got an optical mousepad from staples, black in color too. Works for a while then the mouse start to act up again.
But never any problem once I put it back on the case.

So what do you guys use for the mousepad ? what color ?

Btw, my mouse is Logitech Cordless Optical (from Logitech Cordless Freedom Optical combo).

yeah, I have to lower my shoulder a bit. pretty weird feeling :)
but as long as I'm not playing games, the mousepad should work ok.

Dark brown.

That could screw your back really badly. Don't do that.

I thought the whole point of a modern optical mouse was to not have to use a pad...
I use my desk. It's shiny and white. Frankly, I'm surprised it works, but it does.

yeah, my shoulder does not feel good after an hour of playing Diablo.
I guess I'll give each of your mousepad a try.

a really large foam rubber mousepad that takes up all the space on my keyboard tray that my keyboard doesn't. i wouldn't bother with one but the wood grain tends to confuse the mouse sometimes. at work here i have a ball mouse and don't use a pad, people keep trying to give them to me. they're all far to small to suit me.

A rubber mousepad with cloth top...

It doesnt work that well on my desktop... It skips if I move the mouse too quickly... Initially I thought it's a problem with my mouse, but then I tried using a mousepad and the problem went away...

My desk has this drawer that slides out. I just happened to find some humungo mousepad at fry's that fit exactly on it and still allowed the sliding thingy to close. It was like 1.5' x 2 feet.
