I have a Logitech Cordless MX Duo. It's an MX700 mouse, and a cordless keyboard. They replaced an Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 and a Natural Keyboard Professional.

So far, I like the mouse better, but it's a little on the heavy side. The keyboard is alright, but I am very used to the ol' split keyboard of the Natural Pro.

I use a standard HP USB Keyboard (picked up at CompGeeks through a deal at BSD) and have a Logitech Mx700 Wireless Mouse. The mouse is simply amazing. I was waiting to venture into the wireless world because of not wanting to purchase batteries all the time. This mouse is perfect because it comes with teh rechargable base station. It's great!

I'm about to lay down the dough and get the Logitech Cordless MX Duo, although I'd really be intersted to know if anybody has anything to say about the Microsoft Bluetooth keyboard and mouse before I buy.

I'm finally cashing in the 25$ or so in gift certificates I have stocked up at amazon and lining it up with the logitech 10$ rebate to get an MX500 for 3$.

I want to know once and for all which is a better game mouse, the Intellimouse Explorer 3 which I currently use or the MX500. It looks to me that this is the only way im ever gunna find out.

Keyboard... Apple Pro USB Keyboard (Black Keys) It's soft, quiet, and comfortable. People hassle me at lan's tho and it hurts after three or four hours of constant quake... I realllllly want something else....

I use a no name cheao keyboard that is good because it has stiffer keys( it helps me from making so many typos) i also use the microsoft intellemouse (4 button) if i was upgrading i would deffinately stick with MS maybe get the blue tooth keyboard combo, or the MM special edition keyboard. i dropped my mouse and broke it and they sent me a new one w/o having to send the broken one first.

WRONG. MS IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 is MUCH MUCH better than Logitech MX500 for gaming. Believe me, I've owned both. I used Explorer 3.0 for a while and when MX500 came out, I couldn't resist and bought the MX500 from amazon.com (I used my gift certificate). It felt really nice, but it wasn't a better mouse. Their drivers just suck. Sensitivity is too high, it goes crazy when there are dust on the bottom of the mouse (this happens ALOT), won't work on some mousepads (3M mousepads), The paint on the buttons comes off way too easily, Their mouse feet comes off and gets worn off really easily, the cursor shakes really fast even when I'm not moving the mouse during games like CounterStrike, Diablo II, and WarCraft III. What else... Oh yeah, when you press back button, it goes back right away even when you're holding on the button. (There's no hold function like Explorer 3.0). MX500 is an awesome mouse, but their driver is no where near that of Microsoft's. I sold my MX500 and bought another Explorer 3.0... I should've never switched.

Here's a proof that I actually had the MX500:

FS: MX500

I tried to find the page where I sold my Explorer 3.0, but that's too old... Oh well.

Thats your opinion. I know alot of people who prefer the MX500 over anything MS has to offer.
The drivers are fine, there is nothing wrong with them. The last couple of releases have been great, and the games that i couldnt use the extra buttons in for my old intellimouse, now allow me to use the extra buttons on my MX700, which is identical to the MX500 apart from wireless connection.
You do know that you can adjust the sensitivity dont you? Just asking
rolleye.gif

The paint doesnt come off easy. You must have very sweaty hands if it does for you.
rolleye.gif

The reasons that the cursor shakes, is a combination of the higher accuracy of the mouse, and the high sensitivity setting that you probably have it set to. My MX700 used to do that, cos the sensitivity was set too high. So i lowered it, and it was fine.
The buttons work fine as well. When you press the back button, its supposed to go back. What do you want it to do? Wait a minute till going back?

Its your opinion on the mouse, but i, as well as alot of people on the forums will dissagree with you quite badly.

Oh, and why exactely do we need proof on you owning it? I think we would all belive you. Its not like we all distrust on another, we take each other words for what we all own.

Hmmm... First, let me apologize. I didn't mean to sound like a jerk. Yes I was giving you my opinion on MX500.

Do you honestly believe that I didn't mess around with the sensitivity? I tried everything. I even got a fUnc pad, because my old 3M mousepad didn't work with MX500 (it worked fine with Explorer 3.0). Their drivers are still far from being perfect. The cursor shaking when the sensitivity is high is NOT normal. If you had to turn down the sensitivity because of this, what does that tell you about their drivers? Also, when I press the back button and don't let it go, I don't want the page to go back instantly... Like when I'm reading something on the net and accidently press the back button, all I have to do is hold on to the button until I'm done and the page will change when I let go of the button. That's what I meant. (I'm sorry if I was unclear with that) Also, in CounterStrike, the mouse will move EXTREMELY slow when I zoom in. Very weird... The paint does come off very easily... my friend's paint on MX700 buttons started coming off after 2 weeks of use. My other friend's paint on MX500 buttons are gone now so you can't even tell which buttons are which. My paint didn't come off, because I knew this and tried very hard not to scrape the buttons. What about feet though? You do agree that they wear off too fast? What about the dust problem? I had to blow the dust out every couple hours.

Its your opinion on the mouse, but i, as well as alot of people on the forums will dissagree with you quite badly.

Oh yes. I totally agree. A lot of people like this mouse because it feels so nice. I loved it when I first got it, but I started realizing there are just too many bugs. I've also noticed there are many people selling their MX500 and MX700 on the forums lately. Also, I maybe one of those very picky person... Most of you will probably have no problems with MX series.

Its not so much you sounding like a jerk, its that fact that your first word in your post was "WRONG", literally. Starting your post like that is very confrontational, and is likely to piss off alot of people. A more diplomatic approach would have been more appropriate. Such as "you not exactely right there". You have to learn to be diplomatic in posts, and try to see all sides of a opinion. For example, when i put "Its your opinion on the mouse, but i, as well as alot of people on the forums will dissagree with you quite badly", its a more diplomatic approach, and prevents to an extent a backlash of words from whoever your talking to. Having said that though, if i feel very strongly about something, then every once in a while, i tend to "lash out" like that. Dont worry about it.

Im assuming that the MX500 used the same paint as the MX700, and the paint on my MX700 has`nt come off yet.
As for your curser shaking, you might have a bad model.
Was the surfaces that you were using the MX500 on shiny? or slightly shiny? Cos if i use my MX700 on even a slightly shiny surface, becuase of the way the sensoe on it works, the curser jumps around and shakes a bit. But on normal surfaces, its fine.

I've got an everglide optical mouse pad, and its the best thing to ever happen to my input experience... i consider that pad to have been a better upgrade than ball to optical mouse :D It practically trippled the sensitivity just being there, and now I'm *really* exited to try out the mx500 so I can see for myself.

to IQJUMPuw:
If you dont use the mx500 or the IE3, just from curiosity, what do you use? Smoke signals? ;)

uhhh... what? I use IE3 right now. Didn't I make that clear? I had: IE3, MX500, then I switched back to IE3. And yeah, getting a fUnCpad definitely improved my sensitivity.

Well understood. I'll be more careful next time I post my opinion. :) And no, I wasn't using the mouse on shiny surface. I used to use 3M mousepad for ball mice, but MX500 would go crazy on that mousepad. That's why I bought a fUnCpad and I know I didn't get a bad mouse, because it happened on my friend's MX500 too. He didn't mind at all though and he's still using it even after all the paint on the buttons came off. hehe

Acer PS/2 keyboard, paid $6.95 for it at a computer show a few years ago. I've had it apart to do an LED mod on it, and to give it a thorough cleaning (soap and water), and it's still working just fine. And, I use a Logitech Dual Optical Mouseman USB.

I'm typically a Logitech man. Optical wheel mouse (the blue one) and internet version of their wired keyboard.

I'm thinkin about that FingerWorks iGestures Pad next... Anyone use it before? Is it worth the $179? Better yet, anyone know where you can get it cheaper... and no.. I already checked eBay.

I'm currently using an Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 and Logitech Elite KB.

I have an MX500 in a drawer because I had some of the same problems mentioned above. The damn thing was simply unreliable for games. If I used the Logitech drivers the scroll wheel didn't work properly, or at all, in some games. It would work with the default Windows drivers, but then the extra buttons didn't work then. But I haven't pulled it out in several months, so if anyone can confirm that it does indeed work properly in games now, I may break it out again.
