Admittedly inspired by this thread, Link I feel it needs its own discussion.

I've heard a lot of people say that you shouldn't use FRAMs, but I've ran that filter myself before, and I'm wondering why that might be a problem/which filter I really should be running in my car.

For the Intrepid/Voyager - Walmart Supertech brand filters.
For the Altima - Nissan OEM filters.

It seems to be fine so far. :)

New Toyota Tacoma filled with Mobil 1 and filter at 5000 miles. I'll use the same every 5000 miles.

Shame, Howard. :p
That used to be a respectable name for oil/air filters. What happened?

Allied bought out Fram, then Honeywell bought out allied.

So after so many buyouts, it was all about the name. People KNOW fram is good, so put the Fram name on a crappy filter and then sell it for top dollar = $$$$$$ major profit.

STP and the Wal-Mart Tech2000 filters are the same, and that is a good thing. I use both of these filters for not only my cars/truck/motorcycle, but also for my customers.

Save yourself some money. The bosch is the SAME filter as the STP one right below it, and the Tech2000 at wal-mart.

Again great filter, it just cost more.

Next time at Autozone, get a STP filter for your car and a Bosch, look at them outside and inside, they will be 100% the same.

Here are all the links I have, maybe a double from above??

About a week ago, my dad bought some oil filters from the honda dealer and when he later took a look at the threaded end, he was like what the hell. The construction was noticeably crappier and he asked me to take them back for him.

I glanced at the label and sure enough, it said "by fram." It was those dreaded fram filters that honda is switching to. The dealer didn't have anything else to exchange for. Dad later just got a mobil 1 filter.

I still have a honda filter, made in japan, sitting around. Supposedly those are the best quality filters Honda sold. You can't buy them anymore though, the particular one I have I got a several years ago when I bought a huge batch of filters all at once. I was still driving an accord back then.

I drive a prizm/corolla now and I just use toyota filters.
