I know everyone likes the Nforce2, but I hear of linux issues... I run Gentoo and have no plans to run anything else. I'd like to run an xp at a 200fsb and need a motherboard that should do it reliably and with good linux support...

Also, I see that Nvidia has release nforce2 linux drivers, are they good? if so is the Asus the best board out there?

or should I wait for the KT600 chipset?

Thanx everyone

No, the best nForce2 board out there is the ABIT-NF7-S v1.2 (if you can find it!). Just make sure it's a v1.2 board as the v1.0 and v1.1's are plagued with bugs.:)

last time i checked, mobos didn't need drivers... now, maybe that's different for integrated components...

in such a case, go with as few integrated stuff as possible, or if you're getting integrated stuff (ethernet, audio), make sure it's common/generic enough, like AC97 audio and a realtek ethernet dongle...

I'm not sure aboutr the Linux driver.. but if you need a powerhouse, get ABIT NF7-S or ASUS A7N8X-Deluxe. If you need compatibility in Linux get boards with VIA chipset instead...

nForce 2 mobo
1. Epox 8RDA+
2. Abit NF7 rev 1.2 or 2.0

KT400
1. Abit KD7
2. Asus A7V8X

I like the above choice...u can't go wrong w/ either chipset.
