Could someone give me an overview of all the current motherboard chipset and the con and pro of each?

Once that is establish, not only are there so many different motherboard partners for the same chip-set but there are also different variations from the same company, which is similar to aftermarket GPU, which makes choosing the right motherboard difficult.

For example, looking at the Z97 right now which is the most recommended, there are so many to choose not counting those Z97 from the same company (aka MSI, Asus, etc...) that have different variations. I might have to do research on all of them to find the right one. Doesn't help that there is no consensus top choice or one choice like choosing a CPU.

So let say we are just looking at the Z97 Mobo, how do you find the right brand and the right variation within the brand?

For those of you who don't know, I'll be running in triple monitoring setup at 1080p. I'm not sure how important Mobo is for this since it not a mainstream build. I will also only be using AMD GPU because of Eyefinity. Also I plan on overclocking to the max.

Thanks
