Hi All

Could anyone please, please give me your opinion on what motherboard would be the best for overclocking. Intel or AMD CPU? I want the most stable MOBO so I am willing to get a AMD or Intel CPU to get the fastest and best results.

Thank you

DFI NF4 either non sli or sli. You have to be bios savy for emeory tweaking etc but when it comes to overclocking it's pretty hard to beat DFI. I wouldn't recomend an ATI crossfire chipset board at this point although they do seem to have potential.

Either the DFI Lanparty SLI or NF4 Ultra would be my top pick. Next in line comes the Asus offerings such as the A8N32-SLI Deluxe or A8N-E.

I personally have the DFI Lanparty UT SLI-D and run a 270Mhz FSB with a 3000+ at 2.43Ghz. I'm sure with an Opteron which is supposed to overclock better, you can achieve better results than this.

Do note that I also run DDR486 with Mushkin PC4000 memory. You don't need to buy overclocker memory for these boards. You can get some slightly slower PC3200 memory and save a few bucks and use a memory divider while still achieving high CPU clocks. The Athlon64/FX/Opteron/x2 do not lose much, if any performance from the memory running at a lower frequency. The Voltage doesn't need to be pushed really far to get a nice overclock even with the stock cooling system.

I'm not too in touch with the Pentium-D systems out there and what they can overclock to so I wouldn't be the person to ask.
