If you are looking for what memory it accepts, Crucial has a memory selector.

Their page is :
Crucial memory

Is this what you have?
Upgrades for the Compaq Presario 8000Z Series.

From what I am told, big manufacturers have custom designed mobos, and a proprietary BIOS (with no overclocking available), so info about the mobo is going to have to come from Compaq. Other than that, it looks as if the CPU is 133MHz front side bus, which goes with PC2100 RAM.

Compaq doesn't tell you what mobo they have in their systems they may tell you specs, but they won't say "we use Asus P4P800 DX" or anything. Common sense. My guess is it's proprietary like Dell. Best bet is to check crucial for a memory selector. Whatever memory crucial recommends (PC2100 or PC2700) you can use.

You could install PC9700 and it will still only run at PC2100 (133MHz) BUS speeds - the same frequency as your processor. There will be no benefit. I suspect the board would accept PC2700 alright, but I would be sure to use the latest ROM/BIOS.
