Get a new Socket 478 motherboard and a new Socket 478 P4, this way you will be able to upgrade past 1.7Ghz. I just bought a Abit TH7-2 Socket 478 P4 motherboard, 2.0ghz Socket 478 P4 and 1GB PC800 Samsung RDRAM. I currently have it OCed to 2200Mhz, as soon as I can get the new Socket 478 adapter kit for my VapoChill case, I am installing it in my vapoChill case to OC it to 2400Mhz. Currently, the new Abit TH7-2 is the best P4 Socket 478 motherboard available. You can also wait for the new DDR P4 boards to arrive, but what ever you do decid eto get, make sure to get the Socket 478, otherwise you will have no future with the board for CPU's higher than 2.0Ghz-if they even make the 2.0GHz in Socket 423.

The Asus P4T is a great board, it doesn't need a P4 approved power supply and its stable as hell.

If you aren't buying right away, you might want to wait for Asus' S478 solution. Otherwise, I'd go with the ABIT TH7II.

Or, if you aren't planning on overclocking, go with Intel's board.
