Honestly, with your current system you should be able to turn up quite a few of the settings. Did you try the auto-detect option in the graphic settings menu? If so, what results did it give you?

I don't have the retail version, but I was able to run the game demo with most settings on medium (shadows on low and AA/AF turned off) with a Sempron 2.0Ghz, 1GB of DDR RAM, and a 6600GT. FPS usually stayed between 20 and 30 on those settings with a computer that is MUCH slower than yours. (Everything on Low gave closer to 50 FPS). Many people report that the retail version of the game runs better than the demo, so I would expect that you should be able to get at least those numbers (and likely better) with most settings on high. Some people would consider 30 FPS absolutely un-playable, even for Tetris or Solitaire :p, but on a single player game it's adequate in my opinion.

auto-detect in crysis is garbage, it sets you up higher than you can go after the intro levels (enter the caves). You could use more ram, but it should run ok with that...the vid card is ok, I just don't know how well that 4400chip will run

2GB is more than enough to run Crysis. 4GB would not really improve framerate. Faster ram would

if you're on a Vista machine, from my understanding, Crysis will use almost up to that entire 2gigs, like 1.5 in some situations. having more eases the limit you're set at and allows your computer to cache more info...I remember reading a review before the release that suggested >2gigs (anandtech or toms)
