What more can I upgrade in my laptop?

1) Is there any way to actually replace the crappy dual-core 2.27 GHz i3 M350 with something a little better?
I mean...is the CPU soldered into the motherboard?
If not, then what could I replace the CPU with?

The chip is available in socketed and soldered form, and the manual suggests it is socketed. In theory you could replace the chip.. in practice, it might not work depending on how hard it is to access, BIOS support, etc.

2) Would it possible to replace the eSata and FireWire ports with some extra USB 2.0?

Directly, no, but I'll bet there are Firewire-USB adapters that would work.

3) As I stated above, I have no use for the DVD drive.
Is it possible to replace it with an extra SSD, or even just use the spare IDE/SATA (I'm not sure which) with a USB-to-IDE/SATA cable?

Probably not, but you already have eSATA, so why not use that for storage?
