What Mobos def. don't have bad caps?

Ok, so my last board, an EPOX Nforce2, had a bunch of bad caps and pretty much melted itself down.

It ended up being ok, since I was planning on upgrading to an Nforce4 A64 board anyway. Basically I'm in the market for an Nforce4 board w/PCIexpress support for a 3200+ winchester. I do not want to get burned by bad caps. I read in another thread in the general forum that people are pretty sure that abit (since it lost its lawsuit) and DFI don't use crappy caps anymore.

Can anybody tell me for sure what companies have forsworn using non-Japanese caps? I don't really want to buy a mobo over 150$ (preferably less, I was looking at the gigabyte "GA-K8NF-9" board for 125) but I will just so I can know there won't be cap problem. Can you tell I'm risk averse about bad caps?

Anyway. What companies do you know for sure use good caps nowadays? Will the gigabyte have good caps? Anybody know? DFI? ABIT? EPOX? ASUS? I've been to badcaps.net but basically it just shows a bunch of older boards with bad cap problems. I'm worried about the newer boards.

Edit--I realized this could also go in the mobo forum. The other thread was in the general hardware forum though.

They have pretty much eliminated the cheap cap problem. There was a period where they got a lot of cheap caps.

Gigabyte, DFI, Asus, and pretty much any tier one manufacturers shouldn't have that problem anymore. A lot of those companies have three year warranties on their boards, so odds are you would be ok.

BTW I have that Gigabyte board, and I am pretty happy with it.

Abit uses all Japanese capacitors, so they should be all but immune to bad caps. My Epox 9NDA3+ (nForce3 Ultra) has been great so far

Thanks for the responses all. I'm trying to decide whether I want to spend the money on a DFI or Abit to be sure I'm getting good caps. I don't really need the DFI's extra OCing options...

Cool. Also, are all the caps in that board (in your board) good caps?

Definitely the Abit then.

Yes, they are good caps. I have never had a Gigabyte board that had bad caps.

My new Abit has a sticker on the front of the box bragging about "all Japanese caps". Make sure your mobo has a P4-12V connector or similar (to power the CPU) to help distribute the power load more evenly. You can often get away with a less expensive PSU that way.
.bh.

Bad caps = older Abit, some current Asus, some old/new MSI, Epox, some Soltek. (PCChips/ECS/Ampton/Hsing Tech/etc. too?)

Good caps = current Abit, DFI, .. more?

I admit that I've not heard much about Gigabyte having bad caps, so I suppose one should also place them in the "good" category. I'd like to think that MSI is no longer using bad caps either, given the lawsuit against them, but I'm not so sure, haven't seen enough anecdotal reports to decide if the problem is now gone. Most disturbing is multiple reports of Asus (branded and OEM) boards having bad caps, that's just disturbing and disappointing all in one.

Oh, and Tyan/SuperMicro server-class boards should never have a problem like that, but you'll pay $$$ for their top-notch quality.
