What MoBo?

So, I am just about done assembling a new system. gonna be an e6600, 2 gigs of Ballistix and Dual 7800GTX's. I have all of that...just can't settle on a motherboard. So, can anyone help me pick out a good one? heres the facts.

-This is a gaming PC (Obviously) but I plan to OC very little, if at all
-I would like something stable...duh
-True dual 16x PCIe would be nice...but is it really worth it?
-I am a fan of ASUS but would go elsehere if convinced

Thought this guy had dual 16x slots (ASUS P5WDG2-WS) but then read this (admittedly old) review: http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.aspx?i=2631&p=1
and it seems it may not. So..help me out so I can finish this PC!

That's the best Conroe SLI board

Better than this:

The Pro is Overkill for what you need...

you should look at the Deluxe.....http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131025

or the Premium.....http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131589

These Motherboards Support Multi-GPU PCI-E there are hacked Drivers that will support NVIDIA Vid cards, and It Natively Supports ATI Crossfire.

975x is the best Conroe Chipset at this time for gaming.

Sure they all say Dual 16x...but many are FAR from it as I have found. Like this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131028

Says dual 16x...but what they mean is...if you use SLI one is 8x...the other is 4x.

Yeah that is a Bastardized 965....

The 975x is the best Conroe Chipset out right now.... The NVIDIA SLI board is Casterated as far as Overclocking capability.

The Slots are PCI Express v1.0a Compliant....(Legaleze)

So...back to the original question, what borad will have a minimum of dual 8x slots. 16x would be aight but I guess not really needed. Money is not a huge concern. if the board is 350$...so be it. If its 270$ thats fine too.

Bump, because I'm interested in seeing people's opinions myself. From everything that I've read, and the recommendation that Mr. Fox made, I would think the deluxe and premium ones he linked to would be the best bet myself.

I had one 7800gtx in my previous machine...jst got another..free 🙂 So why not SLi!

Even if both slots are 8X when in use there's plenty of bw for graphics. I'd much rather deal with that (if I used SLI but I'm waiting for a decent card - still!) than the idiosyncrasies of the NV chipsets with >4GB RAM. :|
