What MoBo should I consider?

I am starting on my first attempt at putting together a decent gaming rig. I have the 3500 Venice Core processor; but I am hesitant to buy a mother board until I know I can post. I am interested in getting an MSI K8N Neo2 Plat MoBo. Are my fears of the processor not posting unfounded? What version; of bios should I go with if I get the K8N?
 
Do you already have an agp or pcie graphics card? Are you interested in OCing?

If you have/want a pcie card and want to OC, the Ultra-d is the board to go with. If you don't have a graphics card and don't want to OC, I'd recomend not getting an nforce3 or agp mobo (such as the MSI K8N Neo2 Plat). Instead get an nforce4 mobo.
