ive been out of the loop for awhile now in regards to the new socket for amd and ram requirements. i've picked the athlon 3500+ 64 bit processor socket AM2 but have no clue which motherboard to use or what type of ram (speed? DDR2 or DDR1?). any suggestions? only requirements are that the board must be stable and <$100 and 1gb of ram for now. can't budget in 2gb of ram yet. this computer will be mainly used for word processor/internet/movies/and light gaming only. thanks in advance.

socket am2 motherboards now allow you to use ddr2 however ddr1 is not a backward compatibility because of pins.

1gig will handle those tasks pretty much and for the motherboard, several brands are competing. i'd go with asus since i have an asus socket am2 motherboard and i love it dearly.
