A family member ordered this pc and they'll want to back up some files from their old PC which I'm guessing has a HD with some form of ata (whatever was around in 97-98). Does anyone have this system or know if there are any of the old (non-serial) ata ports on the mobo so I can plug the old HD right in transfer the files?

so either no one can be bothered, no one knows, or the traffic in the mobo forum is very light....

Looks like you've already got your answer, but I've found that the easiest way to find info on what motherboard you've got (especially in an OEM system) is to use CPU-Z. Don't even have to install any software, just unzip and open the .exe
here's a link to it
