Ok here's the deal. I'm looking to build a new PC very very soon but I'm stumped on what to buy. I have no idea on what is a well-known good brands so please bear with me. I noticed reading past posts alot of you guys mention abit and asus boards. I'm looking for a mobo to support P4 (dont ask, I just want P4) at least 2.8 or higher with a 800fsb, usb 2.0, supports AGP video cards, and other features. I was told when building a PC, start with a mobo, then processor, then memory to get the ball rolling here. No more than $200 mobo please, so what do you guys recommend?

The Abit AI7 seems to be a very solid motherboard. It is stable and consistently overclocks well compared to some other i865 solutions on the market. It is the motherboard I am going to use in my system once I get it ordered...

I second that. The Abit AI7 looks to be the best right now overall. Evene the onboard sound looks great

MY recommendation, Abit IC7-MAX3. You will have to spend about $230.00 , but knowing your getting the BEST that Abit has to offer is worth the extra $30.00 bones. As for price vs feature, the Abit IA7 may be the best choice. The mobo is the first place to start when building a new system. Obviously the CPU would be next. I would invest in a REALLY good power supply (please DO NOT skimp on this). If your going with any current generation mobo, go with a SATA hard drive (possibly x2 in a RAID 0 for stonking performance). Happy building!
