A friend wants me to build him a machine for gaming and music but I'm not sure what mobo to use. He doesn't want to overclock right now and probably never. I would like to go AMD XP route. I was thinking maybe Iwill XP333 non raid cuz I have the Raid version and love it. It was very easy to set up etc but it's an overclocking board. Maybe Asus KT266A board or maybe a Gigabyte board? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Will probably run XP or 2K. I wouldn't mind intergrated stuff especially LAN/Sound. The XP333 has great onboard sound so that still is an option. What about NForce mobos?

Thanks

Stick with the Iwill XP333/-R idea. Even though it's very good for OC'ing, it's also very good for general purpose, but you probably already know that. :p

Also, why go with an ASUS KT266A board when it's about $60 more, and only gain about 2 FPS in most games. :p Surely the person you're building it for won't really care.

Good point about the Asus, I almost forgot how much it was. XP333 is a great board, I just wanted to hear other opions etc.

If you like intergrated stuff I'd say go with the soyo dragon plus(kt266a chipset). On board lan, sound(6 channels), and raid. Seems like a nice board. I wanted it for the longest time but it was more cost effective if i got the epox board.

I'd probably stick with the XP333 idea too.. seems like a great mobo from reviews and such, and it's a great price, which also supports future products.. don't forget that is one of the most advanced mobos you can buy right now... and if you know it works good.. by all means use it !
the Asus KT266A is just a rip off and you don't need to pay that much at all.. I'd try the XP333 if it was me.
