What mobo for a 1.5 Ghz P4?

I have just found the P4 1.5 for 120 pounds at my fave retailer!

Not bad is it. However I just took a look at their range of Intel Mobos. They only stock mobos for P3's.

(I was looking at Intel mobo's as this PC is for my office (where stability and NOT OCing with be priority (yes a shame I know) )

Can anyone recomend me a decent mobo to go with a P4 1.5 Ghz? Cost is not really important (We have budgeted about 100 pounds (FYI mobo's range from 50 to about 120 pounds) so we should be able to get a decent one.) I would like a mobo with a good host of features. I do not care for onboard sound or graphics, so they are not a requirement. Onboard sound is a nice addition though. We are a CAD company, so I would use my own Gfx card enen if there was onboard video.

Thanks everyone.

The Asus P4B motherboard supports Socket 478 Intel i845 processors (including future Northwood core). which utilize the most advanced process technology to provide frequencies up to 2.4 GHz, delivering robust features and performance for your digital world. The Intel P4 offers optimized performance for audio, video an dinternet applications.

The Asus EZ plug power connnector lets you use your existing power supply and eliminates the need to buy a special ATX 12 V power supply to support your P4 CPU.

Overclocking:

BIOS built in turbo mode allowing maximum system performance optimization.
CPU frequency multiple adjustable.
FSB/MEM/PCI frequency ratio adjustable.
SFS for system bus frequency fine-tune from 66MHz up to 200MHz increments.
ASUS jumper free
Vcore & Vio adjustable.

Addtional support:

The P4B supports the ASUS iPanel.

Ooo thanks, youre quick off the mark bacillus 😀

Hmm, I didnt know that the P4 needed a 12v power supply... I need to do some more research.
Looks like you saved me some embarrasment!

Keep them coming!

Cheers

If it is a 478pin P4 then the only board i would currently recommend is the Abit TH7 II. This board is based on the i850 chipset and uses RDram and will therefore be far superior to any i845/SDram board.

Ya dude, if I were going to get a P4 the ONLY board I'd be looking at right now would be the Abit TH7 II. Just make sure you get the 478pin version of that P4 1.5GHz. 😉

I don't believe the 1.5 gig comes in the 478pin form factor, I think they start at 1.7gig for the 478pin so no worries there. The Intel board, is a great board if you are not going to OC, and as stated, the Asus P4T is a fantastic board.

There are 1.5Ghz and 1.6Ghz 478 pin P4s as well as ones 1.7GHz+

Excellent! this is all less research that i need to do! 🙂

Shame there isnt a P4 F.A.Q. somewhere 🙁

Cheers
