clif notes: should i get a 35w 2400 or a 45w 2600 barton mobile for OCing and should i buy it asap or wait and see if the price goes down.

i've got a 2600+ running in an abit nf7-s right now. it's on stock cooling but just messing around i could barely overclock it at all before getting errors in prime. now i realize that bartons are getting pretty old, but i love my soundstorm and want to keep my abit mobo for as long as possible. so i think i'm going to buy an si-97 and a mobile barton, but i'm not sure which one to get for the best chance of overclocking - the higher rated ones, or the 35w ones. i have heard a lot of good things about both the 2400 35w and the 2600 45w.
my other question is when should i buy this cpu - are they even in production anymore? if not i'd assume sooner better than later. but maybe the price will go down with age instead of up with rarity?
just looking for some input

Get whichever is cheaper. Remember to feed it a decent ammount of volts as long as you have good enough cooling - that is if you're looking for performance. If you want HTPC you could even underclock it and use less volts and go with a passive heatsink.

I don't think prices will go down, the Athlon XP is dead, and so is its socket (no more semprons even), and I'm pretty sure even the mobile XPs are discontinued products as well. The chips should eventually fade away into nothingness and be only "readily" available from ebay and the like.

They have stopped making them, or will any day. Then the prices will go up !

what about the 45w 2500s, those seem to be cheaper and also reaching some of the same overclocks. or are any ofthe other two generally better overclockers?
