What Mitch fears sounds good to me

First off sorry for the pop up links.

McConnell fears Kamala win would:
Eliminate the filibuster
Pack the court
Make PR & DC States

All that sounds good to me. Maybe Democrats have finally come to the obvious conclusion that the game has changed and the way to play it has changed too.

The good news for Mitch is he probably wouldn’t have to live very long under such a horrible outcome

I don't want DC or PR to become states. DC was set up independent of any state control for a reason...and PR...just cut them loose. Let them become their own country again.

I support all of that, but allow Guam to decide if they want to be a state, and if so, add them in too.

I think your first fear is unfounded in our modern times
Second fear well I don’t fear it, those are US Citizens that are not allowed to vote. Seems pretty strange to me.

Also on DC, those people need to be able to determine their own destiny as a city. Right now congress can overrule anything the council passes or prevent the council from even considering actions. As far as your control issue, just make it a requirement of DC statehood that they have to agree to have no authority over property owned by the federal government in the district.

I have to imagine that didn't go over too well at NCSL where 50% or so of the membership is a subject of that partisan attack. That would have been a more appropriate speech for CPAC or something.

DC, some changes to address issues and concerns, but not statehood.

PR, open the door, let them decide. Add in VI as one common entity possibly.

Does Turtle needs to be unplugged for thirty seconds and plugged back in?

Of course he only supports changing the rules when it benefits him.

I am sure based on your own link PR has never been an independent country. I would support whatever the people of Puerto Rico want. That is still an open question.
I think the people of the USA should also have a say. What does the USA get out of naking PR a state? What is the benefit to us?

Congress has to approve it so there is that say. But I think the most important question to answer first is what do the people who live there want? Also don’t forget we are already closely linked with PR by millions of people living in the United States.

I think if they want it the people of PR have earned statehood by their contribution to our society.

Puerto Ricans  are territorial people of the USA.

Puerto Rico is a US territory. By the same logic, ALL US terrorltories should become states.

American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico are all US territories, but PR and the Mariana Islands also have their own constitution.

They maybe even have constitutions. Every state has a constitution as well so not sure why that matters at all.

By that logic, yes, they should all get a say, which is what you said. Americans should have a say. They are Americans. Ergo, they should get a say.
