There are basically two stereotypes when it comes to drugs and parents. There's the "even an once of pot will kill you and I will disown you if you take it" and then there's the "want to share a joint son". Truth is most of us grew up with parents somewhere in the middle, probably closer to the first than the second. What message did you get about drugs from your parents?
Personally I've grown up with parents who are quite open about such things. I've never received a positive message about drugs and have always been steered away from them but I've never exactly been given the "don't take drugs" speech either. My father took marijuana a couple of times and found the experience rather disturbing I understand, he was suffering from depression at the time and had a nervous break down around that time. Having suffered from depression myself I've always been wary of trying pot. Still I know that while my parents might not be exactly happy if I did try it they wouldn't flip out either. At some point in life I may try it but it won't be from peer pressure or alienation. And both of us know I will never try hard drugs.
