What memory is good for my gigabyte p35-ds3l ?

I'm currently using ocz vista upgrade 2 x 2 gigs at 800 mhs 5-6-6-18. It's good for a 3.5 stable overclock, but I'm having trouble getting to 3.6. I believe my memory is holding me back. Any suggestions appreciated.

can't go wrong with the GSkill DDR2 800 5-5-5 kit @ 1.8v
thats pretty much what everyone is buying right now

or look for DDR2 1000 kits @ around 2.0v

i'd avoid Crucial at (not all, but most) costs. i've had to RMA 4 of 7 DIMMS which can't seen to go through 24 hours of memtest

Thanks for the reply Louis. That memory looks nice. The only problem is that it's not on the gigabyte p35 ds3l list of supported memory. Does that list mean much? I presume there are alot of kits that are supported that aren't listed.

well, the crucial ballistix are on it i think, and i would probably never buy them again, unless there are significant differences in quality

Hello,

I noticed you have the same board I am going to purchase(Gigabyte P35-DS3L LGA 775).
The memory specs say DDR2 1066, is this necessary? I am not going to OC. Use heavy virtualization, graphics, and databases.

Here are my specs:

Gigabyte Ga-P35-DS3L
Intel E8400 Wolfdale 3.0 Ghz LGA 775
XFX PVT88DF4 Geforce 8800GT 512mb 256-bit GDDR3
2- 500GB Seagate Baracuda 7200.11 drives
2-Samsung 20X DVD+R Burners
Cooler Master Centurion case
Vista Ultimate - 64 bit
Undecided on Power supply

I have been told DDR2 800 PC 6400 is sufficient. Also does the memory have be installed in pairs ( like Dell's crappy motherboards)? I have always purchased Kingston memory but would like a recommendation for other memory mfgs. I'd appreciate your ideas and or suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

That list that you saw on the website is just a list of companies that gigabyte tested, and was shown to work. There is no reason why the G.Skill wont work..in fact its probably the best memory you could buy for your board right now. Thats what I am using.

Ignore my above comment.. I didn't read any further..sorry. Anybody here have an E6750? I'm afraid to push the FSB much further than 400Mhz. With a 1:1 ratio that puts my memory at 800Mhz which is fine. I read that some people have gotten that G.Skill DDR2 800 up to 1000Mhz... and def. a solid 900Mhz. Any thoughts?

I have both sets of the G.Skill mentioned in this thread. I haven't gotten around to testing the PC8000 yet, but my set of PC6400 did 970 or 980 DDR, with 2.0v of vdimm. Of course, with all overclocking, YMMV*. Try yours out, and see what it can do.

*YMMV= your mileage may vary
