What memory for Intel D875PBZ MB?

I've just purchased an Intel D875PBZ motherboard with a 2.8Ghz P4 chip. I was planning on buying Kingston Hyper X Pc-3500 Memory, two sticks tof 512MB. This runs at up to 434Mhz and the motherboard only takes 333Mhz or 400Mhz so I e-mailed Intel and they said it probably was not compatible and referred me to their page listing the tested and approved memory. So I looked at Kingston's that was approved it it is value memory or something. So I'm wondering if you could recommend good memory for gamer use and also tell me if Kingston HyperX PC3200, two sticks of 512MB.

You help is greatly appreciated.

Well, since you bought an Intel motherboard, it's completely useless for you to use any memory faster than PC3200, since overclocking is definitely not an option for you now! Just get either Corsair XMS PC3200, or the same speed Kingston HyperX.

pmcint01, the Kingston PC3200 or 3500 you mention should work fine in that board. The memory Intel lists is only a reference, and not etched in stone. Those vendors simply submitted a sample unit to CMTL and/or Intel picked vendors at random.

Corsair & Mushkin aren't even on the list....

pmcint01... nice choice of board (if you're not looking to overclock). Very stable, very well "managed". My personal suggestion would be to buy some of the CAS 2.5 Corsair "Value Select" PC3200 (here at Newegg). Since you aren't going to be able to overclock, this should pop right in and work fine. Note the above link is a DUAL pack of 512MB sticks (so 1GB total) for $172. I don't see any reason (since you won't be overclocking) to buy anything more expensive.

I'm using 4 sticks of Kingston HyperX PC3500 256MB at 2-3-3-5. Running stable for about 6 months.

Don't forget to update the BIOS to P22. It's the most stable BIOS that Intel has released for the 875PBZ and it's also the first BIOS since P05 that leaves PAT enabled.
