What memory for Asus Sabertooth

I was about to buy this board for a new build and started reading the reviews at Newegg. It appears that a fair number of customers are having build problems, esp with memory, and Asus CS refers all reviewers with memory issues to their approved list. This list contains only 2 choices for DDR1600, models by Corsair and Patriot. The QVL list for their P8Z77-V Deluxe mb goes on for 4 pages. What gives? What memory are people using with the Sabertooth board that works? Can you use the same list that as the Deluxe MB? Thanks.
 
As great as are the touted Samsung kits, anything on the P8Z77 / . . . /Pro/Deluxe etc. QVL list would certainly work on the Sabertooth or the Maximus V. They all use the same chipset.

Well . .. correction caveats. If you're using the Sabertooth with the Z77 chipset, then . . . as I said. Chances are, that a lot of modules might work equally for the Z77, X79 and the AMD versions of the board.
