I'm not too bright when it comes to computers but I've been trying to learn as I go.

I have an emachines that's around 4 years old. It's a 2.6 celeron on a 478 socket.

Basically I don't know how to tell what spd my memory is running at/what spd memory I need to buy.

Here's some info from cpu-z on the mobo:

Manufacturer: TriGem Computer, Inc.
Model: Imperial (1.02)
chipset: intel i845g (REV b1)
southbridge: intel 82801DB (ICH4)

Right now for memory it says DDR 256 MB (it's 1 stick)

and the frequency is 133 w/ a fsb:Dram of 3:4
So as far as i know that means the fsb is 100 mhz and the ram is running at 133 mhz

On the speed tab it lists the stick as PC2700 but isn't that 166? Is it safe to just buy another 256 or 512 stick of PC2700. Or do I want something slower so it runs at 133 normally.

Basically I just want to make sure that I buy the right thing for the computer. Be it faster ram and replace the old stick or same ram or w/e.

any 2700s shud work...

you can try a 512 there is a 80% chance it will work. I would buy it from a place where I can return it if it dont work. Some mobos dont support above a certain capacity. Only the mobo manufacturer can tell you for sure...
