this is what my girlfriend told me about her issue:
my pc acts weird. everything is slow... my mouse lags, it takes forever to open a program and to browse (when shes in windows desktop). at times it would just freeze and i can't click on anything even though my mouse can still move around. if i start playing a game it might even just freeze and i can't go anywhere or do anything to exit out of it. no weird colors popping up ... just like a screen shot of what i last saw( picture had weird artifacts while gaming in tf2) while it keeps repeating the last noise i heard over and over again.
so im kinda lost on what maybe the issue on this. im considering doing a format of the pc with a retail version of xp. the video cards temp are normal about 40-45 C. the fan speed of the card is at 50%.
i will try any suggestion you guys have on this issue and if you guys like if you can recommend me on a new build the budget would be 400-600. id figure if i were to build a new system i can reuse the case, psu, and card.

also just found out that when it freezes and she does a hard shut down. when it gets to the windows logo loading page it would freeze then restart itself and shows a message saying that there was a disk read error.
