What maximum speed can be achieved..??

We all know that DVD has maximum speed limit upto 16x due to physical limit. But it seems there is new invention every month in other formats of DVD...like RW or DL. Till date we have these speeds (according to my knowledge....and after release of 1693)
+R = 16x
-R = 16x
+RW = 8x
-RW = 6x
+DL = 4x
-DL = 4x

My question to guys is.......is this possible to increase speeds of RW (epecially -RW) and DL..??

Like this-
+/-R = 16x
+/-RW = 8x
+/-DL = 8x

Sorry.....but this is just out of my curiosity...!!🙂
