Trying to decide... need input... pergo, columbia... neither?

how about ordering them online, cheaper than homedepot, lowes?

I personally went with real wood because it can be refinished and has better resale value. My brother went with Pergo and it looks pretty good. I think Lowes has a sale this week.

Pergo:
Best warranty
Ease of waranty claims
Ease of install (super duper easy, like my gf)
Best look
Usually cheaper. ($2 a sq/ft @ depot)

I would buy at HD. Not sure if Lowes installs it. If they do, go with whoever you like best. For waranty claims, it is better if the place you get it from installs it, so they can come and install the replacement for warranty claims.

i was thinking about doing it myself.

was reading about those snap, click ones, no nailing, no gluing.

there was 1 european company that pioneered it, then serveral companies copied them...

I have Pergo and we love it. Really easy to take care of, and from the abuse it has recieved (dog & kids), it is durable.

None. The tolerance for moisture is just to low. In our climate, I have seen too much water damage of laminate flooring to recommend it. Easy installation, but lifespan is too short to suit me.

I've done floors with Pergo and Johns-Manville. Using a Bosch 10" mitre saw, there was an incredible difference in cutting through the stuff. the JM stuff cut through like cheese, while the Pergo almost threw up sparks before I could get through it! Obviously a musc more robust substrate, and probably holds up a bit better over time.

When your friends and family walk in they will know that your have a fake wood floor. None of the phoney woods look like real wood.
