I have been thinking on this for a while. Here is what I came up with (not necessarily in this order):
1. Dogs. Dogs make me happy, particularly my dogs. You give them attention, a space to live, and food and they love you with every part of their mind and heart. They love you whether you are stupid, ugly, or an outcast from society. It doesn't matter. When I go home to visit my parents (I live in a dorm so can't have a dog, which saddens me), and see the dogs jumping up and down wagging their tails happy to see me, I smile.
2. Beauty. And I use this term loosely. It could be the beauty in a smile, or the glow of the rising sun, or even an eloquent sounding poem. I cannot help but feel uplifted to find something good in the world when so often it seem so dark and depressing.
3. Happy friends. I love it when my friends are happy. I would be willing to do a lot to see that they are so. Like the other day I let a friend of mine stay up and use my computer to write a paper of theirs till 1:30 in the morning so they didn't have to go the library. This isn't a hassle for me... in fact is it something that I like to do.
4. Dreams. I have many dreams, and love to "day dream." I can sit and wonder about the greatest things, go on the longest adventures, and do stuff that I can't do in real life. I guess you could say that I am a dreamer. I have a big imagination. And I love to read, and thereby access the dreams that an author has to impart unto the reader.
So... what makes you happy?
