What makes you happy?

I have been thinking on this for a while. Here is what I came up with (not necessarily in this order):

1. Dogs. Dogs make me happy, particularly my dogs. You give them attention, a space to live, and food and they love you with every part of their mind and heart. They love you whether you are stupid, ugly, or an outcast from society. It doesn't matter. When I go home to visit my parents (I live in a dorm so can't have a dog, which saddens me), and see the dogs jumping up and down wagging their tails happy to see me, I smile.

2. Beauty. And I use this term loosely. It could be the beauty in a smile, or the glow of the rising sun, or even an eloquent sounding poem. I cannot help but feel uplifted to find something good in the world when so often it seem so dark and depressing.

3. Happy friends. I love it when my friends are happy. I would be willing to do a lot to see that they are so. Like the other day I let a friend of mine stay up and use my computer to write a paper of theirs till 1:30 in the morning so they didn't have to go the library. This isn't a hassle for me... in fact is it something that I like to do.

4. Dreams. I have many dreams, and love to "day dream." I can sit and wonder about the greatest things, go on the longest adventures, and do stuff that I can't do in real life. I guess you could say that I am a dreamer. I have a big imagination. And I love to read, and thereby access the dreams that an author has to impart unto the reader.

So... what makes you happy?

The moment in time when I realize that it's time to leave work. Especially on Friday.

Going to bed knowing that I don't have to wake up early.

Blowing money on gadgets... can't wait for the Rio Riot to come out :(

Life itself :)

Another overlooked thing: most of us probably live in developed countries (as we're typing on a comp, that's probably true for most of us). This overlooked thing is really a blessing for us, should we live in Western Europe, Japan, the US, Canada, Australia, and other developed lands, etc :)

The sound of an idling Diesel engine.
The sound of an old air-cooled flat four.
Money (found $0.07 just laying in the hallway of my dorm today :))

Being alone.

I have a wonderful wife and two great young children, but the peace and quiet I experience when their gone is valued.

Having my cat sit in my lap, purring (right on!)
Taking a nap with a girlfriend (hasn't happened in a while, but it does)
Late night car trips with friends
Praying for my wife and kids.

Seeing my gf makes me happy :)
Just chilling out with friends or egging houses of people we dislike :p

And of course most importantly, listening to music. For some reason that always cheers me up, no matter what. It's like my mood is automatically hightened if I listen to music, and lowered if I'm not.

And, they're an excellent fat-free snack. Not that I would ever eat anything fat-free, but somebody told me that.
