I'm not sure how much reading you want to do but, I personally trust the methods Jonny Guru uses to test PSUs. He reviews lots of units, including low priced units. I would find a couple of lower priced PSUs he gives good ratings for and then price shop them with a pricing engine such as Pricewatch, etc.
