This thread is in response to all the voucher threads. Lets for a moment drop the labels and put our heads together to design a good school for your kids. To start off:
1-Small class room size (this has been proven by a 10 year study)
2-adequate supply of books and teaching equipment
3-adequate security
4-quality teachers
5-extracuricular activities (although I'd like less of an emphasis on sports)
6-focus on core subjects (math, science, and English)
7-less emphasis on computers as the magic bullet to teaching/learning
8-school uniforms. I'd prefer just dressshirt and ties. (may not be effective in all schools)
feel free to add to the list.
BTW, don't come in here and complain that teachers gets paid too much. If that was the case, then we wouldn't have a shortage in teachers, which has reached a crisis level.
