What makes a case AMD approved?

Is it because of the initial airflow inside the case plus power supply?

Thats all I can figure from AMD site- that and manufacturer probably has to pay to be on the AMD recommended list.

Manufacturers do not pay AMD to get on their list. We have to send them product so they can test them. So if a case manufacturer isn't willing to work with AMD (ie not send them a case to test) they won't be on the list. As far as qualitfications, it is mostly airflow and having fan mounts at the front or the back.

Does that apply to power supplies too?

For example, the Antec PP303X is only approved for Tbirds up to 1GHz. I've never been able to find out if that limit is due to cooling (i.e., venting), voltage limitations, or just because 1GHz was the largest processor available when the PP303X was tested and Antec never bothered to send it back to be tested with the newer chips?

Power supplies only have to meet certain power requirements @ certain voltage lines...IE the +12v lines should be able to provide ** amps...etc.

Yes... athlon's are power hungry, so AMD approves power supplies if they meet their standars i guess.

Personally i'm using a no-name 250watt power supply and it's been working just fine
