What made the difference

My friend used to run a 9800XT, and he could play World of Warcraft at all under windowed mode maximized (same as full screen but alttabbing is much faster). Ran perfect in full screen though. I have a slightly better computer (6800GT) and could run windowed mode fine with settings maxed. Now he's running with the same rig, but a 6600GT. He can run windowed mode fine. Is the boost from 9800XT to 6600GT enough to make windowed mode go from slide show to perfect, or is it some sort of thing with the 9800XT that made it unplayable?

I would assume that's a driver issue rather than a hardware issue, but it's hard to say I suppose. Strange problem.

9800XT to 6600GT is a huge jump. I'd have to think it's at least a 2-3X better card. In other words, yes it could make that kind of difference.

i have to disagree; 9800xt to 6600gt is not a 2-3x better card. in testing, the two cards will exchange wins depending on the app

I have had 2 ATI cards that did almost the same thing. A 9600AIW, and my current card X1900XT. I run EQ2 windowed quite a bit. For the most part it runs fine, however if I mouse off the screen *like to the taskbar for instance* EQ2 will slideshow until I move the cursor back. Also, when you alt-enter to switch from windowed to fullscreen it never remembers the correct gamma setting, always returing way too dark.

Its wierd as I have had 2 different ATI cards, in 2 different computers do this. My 7800GT-SLI and 2nd box's 6800GT don't do this at all. I really think its something in ATIs drivers.
