What linux is for a linux newbie?
Sorry if this topic has been talked over before...I have an empty and hidden paortition waiting to be used 😉

Mandrake

from personal experience, back up rest of HD. It is easy to fobar your partitions with linux.

Mandrake or RedHat (both the same for the most part). However, if you have no clue what you are doing, I would not bother.

If you are looking for an easy distribution...use Mandrake.

However, if you really want to know the workings, then get something like Slackware. With virtually no GUIs you will learn everything you need to know about linux so that you can fix your computer when something goes wrong.

So, if you just want casual use, go with Mandrake or RedHat. If you are a power-user, go with Slackware 🙂

Just my 2 cents...
