Howdy, im wondering out of the following what LCD rises above the rest in quality and performance when used for viewing DVD's and playing games. In your opinion, which would you choose if you had the money.

Hitachi CML174sxw
Iiyama AS4314utg
Samsung 172t or 172b or 171p
Viewsonic vx800 or vg800 or vp171b
Eizo Nanao flexscan L565
BenQ FP747 or FP791 or FP767
Planar px171m
Dell 1800FP or 1702fp
Sony DRU500Ax or SDM-X82
Fujitsu-Siemens 5100Fa
Lg flatron L1710b
Hitachi CML175
Nec 1760nx

Or any other not mentioned. Thanks. :)

After reading various qoutes on the NEC 1760nx saying it had a 16ms response time, this site reckons it doesn't, stating a 30ms response. Son of a ****!

Whats going on?...

I think that site is wrong. Even NEC site says it is 16ms and I haven't seen a shop listing it as 30ms before.

Besides it should use the same panel as the Hitachi, so response time should be the same.

And if you dare to shop in Germany, you can find the NEC for ?458. Use Geizhals, which is a price comparison site.

Specs are "everything" nor are they the end all discussion when it comes down to performance and your eye. I have two 1800FP's connected to the DVI port, and I watch DVD's and play UT2K3 without any complaints in regards to ghosting. I have heard excellent feedback on the 17" Hitachi 16ms LCD's though.

Don't know. But it's the one I am looking into too and I also might have to order it from the germans, since it is about ?135 cheaper (even with shipping) than in Denmark.

Like I said before, all the 16ms monitors uses the same panel (AU Optronics), so they should be pretty much the same. Except for brightness and contrast, but those can be measured different ways anyhow. The one exception to this is the LG 1710B (I think), rumour on the net says it has LG/Phillips own 16ms screen, don't know and don't care. I'm still looking at the NEC, but the only reason I like this more than the Hitachi/Viewsonic/BenQ/Acer/LG is it's design.

Edit: If you can find a shop with a 16ms monitor, that would off course be the best way to determine if you like it.

If I could find a shop with all the monitors above that would be nice so I could compare, problem is there aren't any shops that have a LCD showroom in my area for many miles, so I have to rely on reviews. What ive read on here tells me it comes down to either a:

Hitachi CML174SXW
Dell 1800FP
Nec 1760NX

(Viewsonic V171B) Why isn't this rated more? considering its spec.
(Samsung 172T)
(Sony's 16 ms range) or these?

I've heard good things about the Hitachi. Nice price/performance if I remember correctly. I'm using an older model Hitachi LCD (same thing but 25ms refresh, I believe) and I'm still impressed by it :)

I see, but this websites review on it puts it 2nd to the 172t which is a tad strange. The review also points out flaws in the monitor which arent to pleasing, thats why im thinking the viewsonic...i dunno though..

I wish they had 18 or 19 inch LCDs with 16 ms response times. I'm using a 19 inch Iiyama CRT with an 18 inch viewable and I don't want to go to a smaller screen. Even though I really want the Hitachi.
