Just about any HP 8000 series, but stay away from the 9000 series. We have had terrible luck with the ones we purchased.

Textronix Phaser. not laser but almost as good and can take as many trays as you need. duplexing is good.

We've got nine of these in two queues (four for Macs, five for PCs) at U of M's largest computer lab. They're amazing machines, and well-worth the price. Of course, we have enough extra paper trays on these things to make them floorstanding models. Seriously.

That is the same one that we have at work (9 of them actually) I was unaware that extra trays could be added. I can vouch for that printer being faster than heck, and printing lazer sharp text.

HP 8050TN... or whatever the newest model is of the 5Si replacements.

If you get anything other than HP, you will be dissapointed.

 

Yup...U of M has a Xerox machine for our 'large jobs' queue, and it's broken after only 6 months use. It's too bad, too - an $8K system is fscked so soon, and Xerox is fighting us on replacing it.

Call up HP, Lexmark, and Xerox sales. Get them to do the legwork for you and give you the best options. You may find they are hungry for sales and will cut you a deal if you play them against each other... "Oh, well HP has one that does all that and more for $x" "Oh, really, well, we have a special promotion going on right now..."

I have been having very good luck and experiances with Brother printers both from a price/performance ratio and a pure performance and reliablity standpoint. Check them out. I think they are trying to make a name for themselves.
